Rotation
Jose Berrios - 7-8 - 5.02 ERA 4.38 FIP - 36 BB - 81 K - 104.1 IP - 1.4 WAR
Phil Hughes - 8-17 - 4.82 ERA 4.83 FIP - 34 BB - 123 K - 211.1 IP - 1.7 WAR
Ervin Santana - 8-10 - 5.26 ERA 5.80 FIP - 46 BB - 67 K - 157 IP - -0.4 WAR
Hector Santiago - 8-13 - 5.54 ERA 5.60 FIP - 64 BB - 140 K - 178.2 IP - -0.1 WAR
Tyler Duffey - 5-10 - 5.23 ERA 4.15 FIP - 26 BB - 101 K - 125.2 IP - 2.0 WAR
Adalberto Mejia - 3-5 - 5.83 ERA 5.70 FIP - 17 BB - 45 K - 54 IP - -0.1 WAR
Nick Greenwood - 3-5 - 7.77 ERA 6.34 FIP - 13 BB - 23 K - 48.2 IP - -0.4 WAR
Justin Haley - 1-1 5.59 ERA 5.01 FIP - 15 BB - 22 K - 29 IP - 0.2 WAR
There isn't much good to say about this group in 2017 as they combined for the worst ERA in the AL. They leave a lot of questions looking past 2017. The most productive pitcher coming into 2017 was traded to Tampa Bay (Kyle Gibson). Hughes ate innings and didn't walk many as expected but we were hoping for a more effective pitcher out of him. Berrios wasn't the same after returning from several injuries in 2017. He saw the DL two seperate times this year. We hope he can stay healthy and prove he can be the top man in our rotation. Santana really struggled and may be relegated to a bullpen role in 2018. Santiago is a free agent this offseason and might find it hard to latch on elsewhere on more than a minor league deal. Duffey will most likely have a spot in the rotation next spring and will try to prove he is more the pitcher his FIP suggests than what we saw in 2017. He has excellent command and should see a spot on the roster next year.
Knocking on the Door in 2018:
Stephen Gonsalves - He shined at AA Chattanooga and earned a promotion to AAA after 12 starts. At AAA, he looked average. He still combined for a 3.5 WAR over 186 innings.
Projected 2018 Rotation: Berrios / Hughes / Duffey / Gonsalves / Mejia
BULLPEN
CL Glen Perkins - 7-7 19 SV - 3.20 ERA 3.46 FIP - 23 BB - 82 K - 81.2 IP - 1.2 WAR

Nick Burdi - 1-0 1 SV - 6.49 ERA 3.26 FIP - 15 BB - 37 K - 25 IP - 0.4 WAR

This group also was the AL's worst unit in 2017, but a few guys turned in fine seasons and as a whole we feel better about going into the offseason. Perkins continued to be the team's closer but looking to rebuild and facing a decision on a team option, he could be dealt or not return to the Twins in 2018. Tonkin was excellent and Pressly was better than expected. Youngster Nick Burdi figures to be a big contributor in the pen in 2018 after seeing limited time at the big league level. The team may look in a different direction for a guy to handle lefties. O'Rourke wasn't anything better than average in 2017.
Knocking on the Door in 2018:
Jake Reed - Reed turned in a solid 2017 campaign at the AAA level. Entering his age 26 season next spring he will have a lot to prove in spring training, but could be looking at a spot on the team with a solid camp.
Trevor Hildenberger - Many outside the organization and ourselves included expected to see Trevor in the big leagues this season but never put it all together in AAA. He will be brought to camp and it will be all or nothing for him entering his age 27 season.
Tyler Jay - The former top pick never made it as a starter but his stuff could play very well in the Twins bullpen very shortly. He will be 24 next season and will have something to prove to those that think he is a bust not being a starter with his draft position. He pitched at AA all of 2017 as Chattanooga's closer and may get some seasoning in AAA before we see him in the bigs.
Projected 2018 Bullpen: Perkins / Tonkin / Pressly / May / Burdi / Chargois / ?
