The Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers reached an agreement to send former MVP and CY Young winner Justin Verlander to the Rangers. Both teams said the deal came together pretty quickly and both sides seem happy with their returns. For the Tigers, they received some solid prospects to strengthen their farm, and for the Rangers they get a very good number two starter that they desperately needed behind team ace Yu Darvish. When he was asked about the move, Rangers general manager Clayton Piper had this to say. “We are very excited to have JV in our rotation behind Darvish and view this as a move that will hopefully finally help us get a Championship.” Claiming the move was centered on the rangers trying to win a ring was bold, but its absolutely true. It shows that this organization is trying to field a team that will help bring Arlington its first championship ever. When asked about the trade, Verlander had this to say. “I have nothing but love for the Tigers and the city of Detroit and will never forget all fun I had in my 12 years there. However, I’m extremely excited to join this talented Rangers team and can’t wait to see what we can do on the field.” All in all, everybody seems to be pleased with the Verlander acquisition.
