I was in the middle of telling Jeff that I'd like to hang on to these specs and not complete the deal when I checked out the newly downloaded league file. My lead off guy Tyler Wade (.299/.380/.426, headed towards an All-Star game?) had suffered a fracture hand in a collision at 2nd base. If that wasn't enough our break out right field Aristides Aquino was also out for a month. All of a sudden this deal looked more like a necessity than a nice option.
Much travelled Inciarte can take that lead off spot and complement our strong outfield defense. He's a what you see is what you get kind of player - dependable for a .290/.360/.425 type season which is what I need at the top of the order. Jorge Mateo gets called up from AAA and has a month to prove he can step up before the trade deadline.
Hate giving up Francisco Dejesus, who is only a year away from being a legit ML slugger, but we've a very deep farm system and we're going to keep trying to compete with the mighty Astros this year.
