Right now, our playoff formats outside of the Wild Card Game are in a 2-2-1-1-1 Format. The goal of the format is to have all pivotal odd-numbered games (Outside of Game 3) be at the advantage of the home team. OOTP defaults to having all changes of locale (Before Games 3, 5, 6, and 7) be preceded by an off day. Thanks to OOTP nerfing pitching stamina, this doesn't have a crazy effect on the game. Teams won't be able to take advantage of this loophole to start their ace four times, and even three-times is rough. However, it does allow for extra rest for bullpens. It also extends the season out a little bit, compressing the offseason, which is a positive.
The alternative is a 2-3-2 format, which would put more pressure on teams who make extensive use of their bullpens, and also on teams without deep starting rotations. It would also speed up the season a little bit (maybe a week), while putting road teams at an advantage in Game 5's if the series were tied.
