Right now, our compensation rules follow a qualifying offer based system. If a team extends a qualifying offer to a player and the player rejects the offer and signs elsewhere, the original team gets a compensation pick. The team that signed the player loses a draft pick unless that pick was a top 10 overall pick. There are other types of free agent comp systems Type A/B Free Agency, where a team (Team 1) signs another team's (Team 2) Type A free agent loses their draft pick to Team 2, with Team 2 getting a sandwich pick as well. Type B Free agents result only in the team losing the free agent getting a sandwich pick. There's also a system more akin to the current CBA, which is more involved. Instead of summarizing, I'll link to the details: statsplus.net/fightclubbaseball/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=323Type A/B is more punishing to teams signing free agents, Our current system the least progressive, and the current CBA is most fair in terms of factoring in finances.

I like the sound of the CBA option in theory, but does this mean it's all going to be on the commissioner to figure this out every season? I'm voting that way, but only if you're willing to do it. Otherwise, keep it as is.

For now, yes it would be all on me.
