This is a pet issue of mine I bring up from time to time. Right now there's an artificial advantage to teams who simply have large stadiums. IRL there are myriad factors that influence stadium size, with smaller stadiums often attractive aesthetically which impacts attendance. In OOTP, that isn't taken into account. Large stadiums are always better as there's no cost for upkeep and more fans = more revenue.
I've concepted a plan to allow for teams to increase their stadium size in a way that's very gradual and based on both on-field and financial success.
If a team makes the playoffs in four of five seasons AND earns a profit of at least $5 million in four of five seasons, then they are allowed to increase their stadium size by 5,000 seats. The maximum allowed stadium size would be 60,000 to prevent stupidly large stadiums.

Thanks for promoting this Erick. I’m really on board with this idea.
I wonder if it’s too out of reach for some teams and making it more attainable perhaps.
What about without playoff stipulation?

The one thing I want is to make this reasonably difficult to attain, as well as not having teams kind of tank payroll just to earn a profit. I'm up for tweaking the parameters though. Maybe it's 4 playoff appearances or 3 playoff appearances and 1+ World Series trips. Maybe it's 4+ winning records. Maybe it's 4 seasons of turning any profit.

Yes you are right that something would need to mitigate tanking. I like the 4+ winning records idea

I think the profit requirement is the hardest thing for me to wrap my head around. Generally in favor of the concept, though.

I voted yes, and I know LA benefits from having the largest stadium, but stadium size isn't everything. LA and SF were #1 and #2 in gate revenue last year. The Dodgers outdrew the Giants by about 1.25m fans, but made only $6m more in ticket sales. And the only reason I had more total revenue that SF was because I had more playoff games. I probably could have bumped up my ticket price, but in my experience the LA fans are more fickle about ticket prices than SF seems to be. Of course fan loyalty isn't really something we can influence directly. But maybe occasional manual modifications to fan loyalty by the commissioner could have a similar outcome as increasing stadium size. I do think the threshold Erick has suggested is going to be awfully tough for to meet. And it might just mean the rich get richer. SF has met the playoff and profit requirement the last three years. TEX is 3/2 over the last 3. Cubs did it from 2017-2021 and 2023-2024. (I've only made a profit once in the last 3 years apparently). Most playoff teams also only seem to turn a profit once the playoff revenue is added in. Which indicates they're all running pretty close to their cap. I'm going off the Stats+ Revenue page for this info, so it may not be entirely accurate. statsplus.net/pba/finance/current/?year=2026
