A note, there were some reasonable objections to my desire to not process trades before arbitration, so I think i'll limit that to just the week of arbitration
Also, and I feel bad about this cause there's broad support from the league...but I think I'm going to keep the 1-10 rating scale. I REALLY do not like the 20-80 system versus 1-10, and the fact that we've been setup with 1-10 makes historical development easy to track. I don't know if I would get the enjoyment out of the league I do if we switched scales.
The 2 other things worth monitoring are the extension system and lottery system. We have limits on who can be extended, basically with players with 5 years of experience and 3 arb years eligible. This is a result of OOTP being broken on players getting very cheap extensions at very early ages. There's rumors of OOTP 19 correcting many of these issues. As more leagues run with 19 and as the OOTP community gets more research, we may move away from that for the season after next. For 2019 however, we will use the current system.
With the draft lottery, I'm a fan of chaos so we have a lottery using the NBA system. The catch is that all spots in the lottery are live. We had locked in spots for certain teams who did not sign 1st round draft picks though, meaning that the worst teams could have a less favorable spot than a good team that was bad a year prior and didn't sign their pick. I'm hoping that removing THAT aspect will clean up some of the criticisms of the lottery. That said, I had a 3 year plan for seeing what happened as a result of the lottery and next year will be the second year (and first without locked in spots).
Finally, one issue that wasn't resolved was using a Luxury Tax vs Revenue Sharing. We stayed the course as I wasn't very familiar with how OOTP calculated the info and dished out the revenue. I know Aaron in the ABL has used it, so I'm going to talk with him about what would be best.
Finally, I want to get several Slack commands linked to StatsPlus. Those are cosmetic and may be announced over the course of the offseason
If anybody has any questions, thoughts or comments on the above, please let me know!
Finally, with everyone in the league and after a couple of days of digesting the above, we'll be ready to get back and rolling. I'll announce this in the sim updates channel, but we'll likely have our first 2019 real sim on Saturday. Exports will be due at noon. We'll likely only sim 1 day in game to get us to the offseason. We'll then sim again on Monday for a more substantial sim. I'll have a sim schedule set up in the boards and in that channel later tonight.
Thanks for your patience and we'll get things kicked off for 2019 soon!
