A's confirm.
Having an expensive, good closer on the worst team in baseball with the smallest salary budget in baseball didn't make sense. As much as I'd wanted a bigger haul for Doolittle - he had to go. Of the guys coming back Whitely's probably the pick of them, and my scout likes Borden to have a pretty high ceiling. A frustrating trade because we had another deal 'agreed' a week ago - but you take what you can get when you need to move players in a quiet trade market.
