To do: Yankees contracts:
In terms of the Yankees contracts, here's what I've done. For Severino, nobody has a similarity score above 950 on StatsPlus so I took the 7 players who have scores of 900+ through age 25 and have gone through arbitration. I totaled and averaged the numbers and got $6,312,714. It's significantly less than what he extended for, but will also serve as a baseline when he goes through this process next year (barring rule changes)
For Sanchez, the only player with a sim score above 900 is Wilson Contreras who was awarded $6,875,000 in arbitration this year. I'll give Sanchez the same number.
Bird's extension is basically a little more than double his first arb year. I'll keep the number he extended for and remove the second year of the extension.
The 4th guy, Enns, is a career minor leaguer. I'll give him the minimum for one year.
Does anybody object to this process of, in a sense, being the arbitrators for the Yankees players who were extended when they shouldn't have?
